Most people would say they are "good"! But what does that mean? Have we never got angry - That is responding inappropriately to crossed goals. Have we always done what we were told by an authority figure. Have we always kept the law? Most People say they are not law breakers! have they always kept to the speed limits. We can't justify our actions by saying, everyone does it.
The Bible says: "The heart is deceitful above all things and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it"? Jeremiah 17:9
Last weekend My wife and I went into Alice for some R&R. On Saturday morning I spent some time thinking about "Sin". As I reflected I could see that there was NO good thing in me. Oh! yes, I had done some good things but "I" was not good, there is no cell of my body that has not been effected and infected by sin.
Sin is like an Atom Bomb. When it is detonated it effects everything around it. There is NOTHING left that is not effected. That effect goes on for years. When we sin, that sin (no matter how small) has an ongoing effect. Like the Atom Bomb the decimation spreads as the wave rolls out
So sin has an effects not just on the one who is sinning but other people around us. We might have sinned in private but the effect has a way of creeping out. Our sin which the Bible says we were conceived in (Psalm 51:5) has infected every cell of our body.
Let me explain! If I invited you to a party, you might be surprised and say, thank you but should I bring my Legs, arms, liver and brain.
What part of you is you? So I write back and say, all the bits that are connected to your body are invited as well.
When sin came into the world it effected every part. When we were conceived sin was passed from our parents to us. Psalm 51:5 again.
Then there came Hebrews 1: We thank God the Father who loves us so much that He sent Jesus. This same Jesus has reconciled His' Church to Himself. Romans 10:10 (Read it in it's context)
"for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."
We thank God that he sent Jesus raise us out of sin into His great Family of Glory.
All this and more went through my pore little brain last Saturday.
God Bless You All!
